Before I began working with John, I would have considered myself professionally and personally stagnant. I had been working towards a specific goal and believed I had finally arrived at that point. Through the years my focus was pushing forward, but I didn’t know what to do next. I completed the goals I has set for myself at that time bud did not feel overall success. I wanted to be more impactful and make a difference. I was lost on how to proceed.

I believe I have always had a growth mindset but being able to utilize those intentions is another skill set. John worked with me on each spoke of the wheel and focused on steps to improve each area. He challenged me to write down and be intentional on what I wanted out of each discipline. Being able to put pen to paper helped direct me and find the next steps.

I started as someone who was paralyzed by their own doing. I used the talents God gave me and self-reflected to better identify what I wanted out of life, both personally and professionally. John has been inspirational and challenging throughout the course and most importantly held me accountable. The learning and growth did not stop when the course was completed. Encouragement and check-ins from John continue to help be responsible as the exercises become more habitual.

I enjoyed the direction and thought-provoking questions John was able to ask. Most of the information provided is concepts we know, but being able to apply them individually and be able to take action steps was a great advantage of coaching.

Before working with John through Choose to Win coaching, I was unsure of how I could ever reach my goals in life. I did not have a clear vision or obtainable action steps on my horizon. Now, I have the tools and abilities to reach the goals set before me to create a legacy for my life. I have the confidence knowing that God has designed my life with great purpose, and through His strength, I can achieve anything.

I have learned how to have a clear vision, how to start each day with success, and how to make an intentional impact in the lives of those around me. I highly recommend coaching with John and going through this transformation process like I have.

I first began working with John in 2015. Over the years we have become friends as we’ve consulted together on various 3rd world business and non-profit entity start-ups. In 2021, when it seemed like all I had in front of me were insurmountable obstacles, John became my coach. Since then John and I have been using “Choose to Win” to help me move the focus from what I am doing to who I am becoming and why. And the best part is the story isn’t over yet; as John helps me find the opportunities hidden in the obstacles, we’ll be doing the hard work of replacing bad habits with good ones, making for a positive legacy.

My husband has been meeting with John as coach for some months now, and while some Zoom calls leave one weary, I perceive that meeting with John is life-giving to my husband. From my vantage point of a nearby room I hear my husband talking with and listening to John during their video calls. I hear my husband responding to what I believe are good, thoughtful questions. Based on the length of the conversations, John lingers, not hurrying the process or the need for talking through my husband’s ideas, beliefs and concerns. And I hear my husband’s hearty laughter as John brings fun as well as his knowledge and experience to the conversation.

And while the meeting is definitely between the two of them, John is very much aware of our family, not hesitating to ask about them, or about me. That does not go unnoticed. John’s work and influence is not necessarily limited to the one family member he is meeting with. In our case it is of significant value to both my husband and I, and its benefit felt by our adult children as well.

When I reflect on the moments that have shaped my professional growth, John stands out as one of the most influential voices in my journey. His mentorship has never been about giving me the right answers. It’s been about asking the right questions, helping me navigate complexity with clarity, and challenging me to lead with both courage and integrity.

What makes him remarkable is not just his wisdom, but his willingness to invest it. The way he sees people, honors their potential, and bring intentionality to growth is something I’ve carried with me in every stage of my career.
